Now as then, a model business
The construction of the Eggental Road in 1860 led to Josef Wiedenhofer being appointed " k. u. k. postmaster" of the Austria-Hungarian Empire because of the ideal location of his farmstead. The need to shelter horses and accommodate the region’s first visitors resulted in the establishment of the inn "Zum Goldenen Rößl". From around 1890 until the First World War, guests from all over Europe including the nobility of the Austrian Empire, Russia and England made the inn their summer resort. In addition to managing a large farm, each generation carried out remodelling and expansion of the premises, such as the construction of a large annex building in 1904, a tennis court in 1923, an outdoor pool in 1960 and an indoor swimming pool in 1966.
